Archmage IPA - The debut brew of Mordhau Brewery, a sister brewery to Crane’s Castle Brewing, located in Bremerton, Washington.

The only guidelines I was given for this project was to incorporate a pre-existing logo, and to create a piece of artwork featuring a wizard, and a hops staff.

This project became very special to me very quickly. The inspiration comes from my father, who used to tell me bedtime stories of “Baby Merlin” and his adventures when I was a child. In late 2023 my father was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma, ushering in a very scary time for my family. I decided (with consent) to use his likeliness for this mage, and halfway through this project we got word that he is officially cancer-free. This will likely remain one of my favorite pieces for a long time to come!
